Welsh Photographic Federation Merit Awards Rules

Rules for Welsh Photographic Federation Merit Awards (draft V4)

 

  1. All Images (whether print or digital) are the work of the photographer.
  2. Open to all members of clubs affiliated to the Welsh Photographic Federation
  3. The number of images per level are :- WPFMA1 = 8, WPFMA2 = 12, WPFMA3 =16
  4. Entries are to be either Prints or Digital files
  5. Cost of each level will be on the entry form (which will be reviewed annually)
  6. Each Level will have its own Entry Form
  7. Entries are to be made by the entrant and emailed to wpfma@thewpf.co.uk
  8. Entrant fee is to be paid on submission of entry form.
  9. Each entrant will be given an entrant number which should be put in the title along with the print number (see entry form for example).
  10. Postal Print submissions are to be with the organiser at least 4 weeks prior to the adjudication with a fully completed entry form included and sent by email including a competition jpg for each image.
  11. Hand delivered Print submissions to be with the organiser at least 4 weeks prior to the adjudication with a fully completed entry form included and sent by email including a competition jpg for each image.
  12. Digital Entries. A digital jpg of each image is to be sent to the organiser at least 4 weeks prior to the adjudication along with a fully completed entry form.
  13. The Awards are open (but applicants are reminded that if they enter other schemes the images must conform to that schemes conditions).
  14. Return postage is not included in fees, if return postage is required separate arrangements are to be made with the organiser.
  15. Print sizes, printing and mounting :                                                                                                                                                 i) Prints should be presented on a board 50 cm by 40 cm,                                                                                              ii) masking tape is NOT allowed,                                                                                                                                                    iii) a backing board is required,                                                                                                                                                        iv) Prints can be home processed or trade,                                                                                                                            v) mounting can be done by 3rd  party                                                                                                                                         vi) PDI of prints required at sizes in 16.
  16. PDI sizes for adjudication :                                                                                                                                                               i) PDI should be in Jpg format (large) and sRGB colour space,                                                                                       ii) landscape format should be no greater than 1600px horizontal x 1200px vertical,                                     iii) Portrait format should be no greater than 1000px horizontal x 1200px vertical,                                     iv) Square format should be no greater than 1200px horizontal x 1200px vertical.
  17. Digital copies of images to be sent by wetransfer to wpfma@thewpf.co.uk at least 4 weeks prior to adjudication
  18. Loss or Damage: Whilst every possible care will be taken of entries whilst in its possession, the Federation cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
  19. Use of images from previous merit award. No more that 25% of images from a previous merit award can be used in future awards.
  20. On attaining a merit award the entrant will be presented with a certificate for that award.
  21. Agreed use of images. The WPF can use any of the images to promote the awards. The WPF can display images on its web site/facebook page and in Flipbook format.
  22. Use of AI in the Awards :                                                                                                                                                                       i) No text of speech driven AI changes are allowed,                                                                                                          ii) no imaging from computer games or animations is allowed (includes single still frame from video).                                                                                                                                                                                                        iii) no AI changes where multiple options given are allowed,                                                                                         iv) the use of AI tools within software is allowed :- examples are but not limited to clone tool, healing brush                                                                                                                                                                                                            v) sky swaps/movement of items from one image to another are allowed when both the giving and receiving images are the entrants,                                                                                                                                                vi) any textures used are to have been created by the entrant.
