WPF clubs feature in the 2014 PAGB Cup.

Welsh clubs placed very well among the 110 clubs that entered the 2014 PAGB Cup (Open section for large clubs). Inn Focus Group finished a creditable 5th and Gwynfa were 9th from the 100 biggest clubs in the UK.

The four Welsh clubs who entered this competition achieved the following scores:

*** Please note, Gwynfa were later docked 11 points and dropped to 29th place due to a member entering the same photograph to two different clubs.

Results from Warwick 2013

As a result of Inn Focus’ remarkable performance in reaching the final last year, for the first time ever, three WPF clubs made the journey to Warwick to take part in the PAGB National DPI Championships.

Ebbw Vale, making their first visit, and Tenby (former ‘Plate’ winners) found the going a little tough finishing in the bottom six of the plate competition. Inn Focus failed to repeat the achievement by just four points but despite their disappointment they went on to win the Plate competition by three points from Beyond Group, Dundee and Southampton!

Ian Munro’s photograph entitled ‘The Irony of Ironing’ won one of the judges choice awards (from Libby Smith).

A report on the day by Ian Munro of Inn Focus can be seen below.

Warwick 2013 – the view from Inn Focus

Many thanks to Ian Munro for submitting this report of Inn Focus’ day at the National DPI Championships at Warwick.

For Inn Focus Warwick and Connah’s Quay are both priority each year and it’s easy to see why when you get there. After leaving on Friday afternoon we arrived in Warwick the evening before where we set out to destroy a few beers and an Indian meal. We try and make it a big social event and try and get the wives and friends involved. This was our second year in succession and we felt we had a stronger image base to compete. Also it had a different feel because Tenby were there again and also for the first time Ebbw Vale were there to help the Welsh represent at this level, which was great.

New PAGB Judges

The WPF has great pleasure in announcing that we now have three of our very own judges on the PAGB approved judges list. Their names will appear in the new PAGB handbook to be published shortly. I am sure that you will join me in congratulating them and wishing them well when they are invited to cross the water. They are in alpha order:  Jan Cawley EFIAP/s  HonFWPF, Brian Coleman AFIAP AWPF and Ian Ledgard LRPS EFIAP PPSA AWPF.

2012 Connah’s Quay – Bridgend Go Fourth…

We have heard that Bridgend Camera Club came 4th in the plate competition at the PAGB National Print Championships at Connaghs Quay. The first place club had 66 points, two clubs tied for second with 65 and Bridgend finished on 64. Well done to them for a creditable performance. Tenby finished just 4 points behind Bridgend in the Plate competition having beaten them by 9 points in round one. Overall winners of the main competition were, you’ve guessed it, Wigan 10 with Smethwick in second place. You can see the Wigan 10 images here. The full set of results can now be seen here.
