PAGB Interfederation – WPF Selections

2026 PAGB Inter-Federation Competition & Exhibition

Our thanks go to Gareth Martin who, with me, selected 20 prints to be entered in each of three sections, mono, colour and nature, in this event.  A list of the prints selected is here. (A corrected file was added on 2nd June 2026).

I have to submit our entry by 14 June and the judging takes place on 20 June. All being well, I shall be present.

There will be a further report following release of the official results.

Edinburgh International Open for Entry

The 162nd Edinburgh International Salon is open for entry. It is one of the most highly regarded photographic exhibitions in the UK and one of the few print-only international salons in the world. Each year, the exhibition attracts thousands of entries from photographers across the globe, drawn by its long history, high standards and distinctive focus on the printed image.

There are no genre restrictions, and entrants may submit up to four colour and four monochrome prints. All images must originate as original captures by light made by the entrant. The rules and all other details can be found here.

WPF Memorials Day 2026 – Results

The 2026 Memorial competitions were held on 21 February at Dingestow Village, Hall, Dingestow, Monmouth. NP25 4BH. Our very grateful thanks go to Monmouth Photography Club who hosted the event with enthusiasm and efficiency.

The judge was Ralph Snook ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/s.  He judged the prints and PDI’s with skill and helpfulness.  His focus was on looking into the pictures instead of just looking at them.  He was only concerned about technical matters when such errors got in the way of a photograph’s message.

18 clubs participated.  Unfortunately, one club had submitted a monochrome print in the colour print competition; it scored zero, as a result.

The results were:

Walter Morgan Trophy for PDIs
First  – Bargoed Camera Club
Second – Monmouth Photographic Club
Third – Gwent Camera Club
Individual Scores here.

Past Presidents’ Trophy for Colour Prints
First – Monmouth Photographic Club
Second – Bridgend & District Camera Club
Third –  Baglan Bay Photographic Society
Individual Scores here.

Gwyn Morgan Trophy for a Cohesive Set of Monochrome Prints

Third – Tenby & District Camera Club

The 2025 edition of the Barrian Cup was a great success with a good turn-out and some excellent prints. Barry CC have asked us to thank all those clubs who entered and everyone who attended for making it such a great event.

The Barrian Cup Trophy was jointly won by Bridgend and Monmouth with 97 points each, the first ever joint winners in the history of the event. Rhondda finished a close third on 96.

Congratulations to the winners of the Dave Cowdrey Trophy (Tony France of Rhondda) and the Mike Lewis Cup (Emma Woodhouse of RPC). It was a pleasure to have Dave Cowdrey’s daughter Karen ‘Kaz’ Cowdrey present her Dad’s award.

The event was judged by Gareth Martin AWPF CPAGB and his individual scores can be seen here.

Finally in recognition of the contribution from Barry Town Council, a big thank from Barry CC goes to the Barry Town Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Dennis Clarke and his wife Janet who kindly opened and closed the event.

Stanley Chell Update

Due to limited resources, Aberdare CC has decided not to host Stanley Chell in 2025 but they hope to restart the competition in 2026.

2025 Memorial Trophies – Results

The 2025 Memorial Trophy Competitions took place on the 25th January at The Bridges, Monmouth and a very big thank you goes to Monmouth PC for hosting the event. The co-ordinators Keith and Lyn Sharples with the team of Monmouth members did a splendid job in doing all the background tasks involved in putting on the event. It was a major factor in having such a good time. The Bridges was a very comfortable venue to be in and thank you to their staff for the welcome and assistance on the day.

John Tilsley ARPS DPAGB APAGB was the judge for the day, and his communication on the work that he saw was spot on. You did not make it easy for him because, as he said, the quality of the images was clear to see. So thank you John for such a great commentary.

Bringing the competition together is a complex series of tasks and I thank Gerry O’Neill for shadowing me, Del Jones for fronting the day, Gareth Martin for the photos and David Lewis for transporting the equipment.

Another very big thank you to all the clubs that entered and to all the people attended.  Seeing you all there makes the effort worthwhile.

Congratulations to the winners of the competitions who were:
The Walter Morgan Trophy for PDIs – Bridgend and District CC
The Past Presidents Trophy for Colour Prints – Tenby and District CC
