Gwynfryn Jones, Master of Print

Huge congratulations to Gwynfryn Jones of Gwynfa CC who received an acceptance in the 2021 the Master of Print competition with his print “Social Distancing”, see below.

We believe Gwynfryn to be the only successful WPF entrant this year. It is his third acceptance in three years in a competition limited to only 60 acceptances. Well done indeed.

PAGB Recorded Lecture Service

Camera clubs and societies have made the decision to cancel their club meetings in an attempt to reduce the risk of infection of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). To support clubs and societies during this difficult time we have decided to relax the terms of business for the PAGB RLS and allow the distribution of recorded lectures to members within their respective club or society.

Clubs and societies are asked to adhere to the following conditions:

  1. Clubs and societies may only distribute a PAGB lecture to their members providing they own a license for that lecture.
  2. Clubs and societies may only distribute a PAGB lecture to their members up until 31 May 2020.
  3. Clubs and societies are asked to ensure that all copies (including any links) are destroyed or removed on or before 31 May 2020.
  4. A club official must send an email informing the PAGB RLS Sec of the club or societies intention to distribute a lecture, prior to doing so giving details of said lecture.

Thanks to Imants Grindulis

After years of service to our member clubs, Imants has decided to step down from judging.  We thank him most sincerely for all the time he has spent serving our member societies.  We really do appreciate his efforts.

Final – Individual Scores

I thought it was a great day of photography and I thought our Judges performed well for which we have much appreciation – given the misbehaviour of our scoring system – we’ll have to do better next time!

The 3 Judges; Colin Harrison FRPS MPAGB FBPE EFIAP/d3;  Ralph Snook ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/b and Peter Young LRPS CPAGB APAGB AFIAP chose a number of images that they thought worthy of mention: –

They jointly chose – “Safely over the bar” by Brian Merry of Rhondda CC as the best image overall.

Ralph Snook chose – “Banded Demoiselle Pair” by Alec Stewart of Gwynfa as his personal favourite.

Peter Young chose – “Alone on the Moor” by Jan Sullivan of Tenby as his personal favourite.

Colin Harrison chose – “Graveyard Run” by David Hopes of Bridgend as his personal favourite.

You can see them below….

Finally we must congratulate IOS and Gwynfa for coming first and second and being prepared to represent the WPF at the PAGB PDI Competition held in Warwick this July – that’s worth a day of your time going along to see the best of British PDI work!

We’ve received the sad news from Chrisine Starnes that June Grundy passed away just before Christmas.

Her and her husband Bill, were members of both Hay CC and Merthyr Tydfil CC for many years.
