2012 Connah’s Quay – Bridgend Go Fourth…

We have heard that Bridgend Camera Club came 4th in the plate competition at the PAGB National Print Championships at Connaghs Quay. The first place club had 66 points, two clubs tied for second with 65 and Bridgend finished on 64. Well done to them for a creditable performance. Tenby finished just 4 points behind Bridgend in the Plate competition having beaten them by 9 points in round one. Overall winners of the main competition were, you’ve guessed it, Wigan 10 with Smethwick in second place. You can see the Wigan 10 images here. The full set of results can now be seen here.

Edgar & Linda get their MPAGB

Edgar Gibbs FRPS, AFIAP-AV and Linda Gibbs AFIAP-AV of Gwynfa Camera Club have jointly achieved their MPAGB, the top AV award at the PAGB awards adjudication at the Civic Centre Braunstone, Leicester last Saturday. We send our hearty congratulations to them for achieving yet another AV milestone. They had to convince the three assessors of their work for their success, Martin Fry FRPS, APAGB, Keith Brown FRPS, MPAGB, EFIAP, APAGB and Richard Brown FRPS, EFIAP, APAGB. We suspect, but have not been yet able to confirm, that is the first MPAGB for any WPF member. Other PAGB AV Awards for Photographic Merit can be seen here.

Warwick 2012 Results

On Saturday the two clubs representing The WPF made history.  Inn Focus scored really well in the first two rounds with a total of 203 for 16 images. To put this in perspective Wigan 10 the eventual trophy winners (again) scored 208. The final Trophy rounds which needed another 20 images (10 could be from the earlier rounds but 10 had to be new) gave them a final score of 246 for these images whereas Wigan 10 scored a total of 267 to take the trophy. Inn Focus & Tenby Fly the Flag at Warwick 2012

Inn Focus finished joint fifth in the final of the National DPI Championships at Warwick, a remarable effort being (we believe) the first ever WPF club to reach the final eight. Also Tenby won the plate final by 2 points. So effectively this means that Inn Focus were 5th and Tenby 9th out of the top 35 or so camera clubs in the UK. What a great day for the WPF clubs. More details to follow when we have them. Wigan 10 returned to winning ways after missing out last year.
