ick Jenkins of at Freespirit Images and Gwynfa Camera Club who has just had a 4 page article in Cameracraft, a quarterly advert free photography magazine.
We shall henceforward refer to him as the Fall Guy.
Obituary – Pat Reynolds
Ft/Lt Noel Stewart Bantock (Pat) Reynolds APAGB LRPS BEM.
It was with great sadness that we received the very sad news that Pat Reynolds passed away on 21st December.
He had recently been moved to Gloucestershire and was only unwell for a week – he will be sadly missed by many in South Wales.
He was active throughout the late 20th Century from the late 1960’s until fairly recently when ill health stopped his activities.
Pat was an ardent photographer and first came to the WPF’s attention when he was with the RAF at their St. Athan base, he was a founder member of the RAF St. Athan Camera Club until the RAF closed its base when he then set up a new club in Rhoose. He was also a member of and Pyle and Porthcawl Camera Club, and most recently of The Vale PC. He was always a True Gentleman and treated everyone with respect and kindness. A real dapper dresser who always wore a tie, Blazer and slacks and carried himself as you would expect of a serving officer; his presence in a room full of people was always noticeable and yet he was quietly spoken and had a kind word for everyone he met.
He served as a Lecturer and Judge on our circuit for many years and his evenings were always enjoyable – his judging was always kind; but he would let you know of your issues and how you should fix them next time – one came out of one of his judging evenings happy and content regardless of the score he had given you.
He also served on the WPF Executive for many years and was elected President of the WPF on two occasions 1981-83 and 1993-95 he ran a calm and effective Executive on both occasions and he always thoroughly enjoyed our Lampeter Convention held in September each year at St. David’s College, he took great delight in encouraging the members to attend the Church Service on Sunday mornings showing his true Christian spirit which guided his life and actions.
He was awarded the APAGB in 1992 as a mark of the long service he had provided.
Rest in Peace Pat – you were always a delight to know and spend time with.

Pat’s funeral will be held at Gloucester Crematorium, Coney Hill Road, Gloucester, GL4 4PA on Tuesday 10 January at 13:00.
Allan is on the Cover
After gaining him his Fellowship award from the Disabled Photographers Society, the amazing paint sculptures of former Gwynfa Chairman Allan Squires now appear on the Front cover of the Winter Edition of their magazine.
He also has an article inside. Well done to him.
Jennifer features in Care Calendar
Jennifer Harries of Llanelli Photographic Society has had a picture selected for the Care & Repair Wales Calendar 2017. Her photo features in March and is of Dinefwr Wood, Llandeilo.
The calendar is currently on sale for a very worthwhile cause and for just £5 each. Copies be purchased here and from local Care & Repair Agencies across Wales.
A bit more about the calendar: ‘A charity which helps older people in their homes has launched its first calendar to raise funds to help more people live independently at home. The calendar features beautiful photographs of Wales which were chosen through a competition run with charity staff, families and friends. It was produced with support from British Gas and all the funds raised from the calendar will go directly towards supporting more people across Wales.
Chris Jones, Chief Executive of Care & Repair Cymru said: “We’re very excited about our first charity calendar and are grateful for the sponsorship from British Gas. A Scam Warning
I like a few of you have been receiving requests for funds from our club accounts to be sent to an unknown site. They are rather amateurish and are unlikely to succeed but we thought it worth warning you. Be careful as these scams are getting more and more often.
This like a lot of other scams we all get appear to be getting more frequent. If you receive one of these requests send the information to phishing@ “your internet provider”. Â
On a more pleasant note may I congratulate all the members of our clubs who have gained honours this year. Also a huge thanks to all the clubs who have both represented and helped the WPF this year.

The PAGB Judges List
There have been a couple of queries as to what is required to become a PAGB judge. The first thing to decide is do you want to travel and judge in England and possibly further afield. Much of the judging in England is carried out ‘on-the-night’.

A huge thank you goes out to all of this year’s judges Nick Jenkins (Chairman), Margaret Collis, Jenny Hibbert, David Lingham and Brian Coleman who were all greatly impressed by the fantastic standard of work presented for assessment this year.
Once again the work presented at Talbot Green Community Centre was amazing, which resulted in an 80% pass rate. There were 26 entries, 25 in prints and 1 DPI which resulted in 21 AWPF awards being achieved, 20 for print panels and 1 for DPI.
