Welsh Photographic Federation Associate Assessment Day
6th November 2022 – Distinctions Secretary’s Report.
The AWPF assessment was held on the 6th November 2022, despite the awful weather we still had an audience of about 50 dedicated photographers and supporters many traveling hundreds of miles to attend, we are grateful for their support. We were unable to broadcast the event via Zoom.
There were 20 applications, for the 2022 AWPF award. 16 print submissions and 4 Digital submissions, unfortunately 11 candidates failed to reach the standard required to achieve a successful outcome. That is a pass rate of 45%.
Those 9 candidates that did achieve the high standard the award demands, are listed below.
We received this sad news from Morriston Camera Club:
It is with great sadness that Morriston Camera Club have to report that Jeff Lang our president and founder member has passed away aged 76. The passing, of Jeff, one of the most esteemed members of Morriston Camera Club in Swansea, came as a shock to all MCC members. Although he had been unwell for some time, no-one had been prepared for the sad news of his passing.
Well done to Tenby and Gwynfa who made the journey to Warwick to represent the WPF in the National Inter-Club PDI Championships.
In the WPF grudge match, Tenby finished the Plate competition in joint 5th (15th overall) place on 103 points and Gwynfa just two points behind in joint 10th place (20th overall). Of the North Wales clubs, Mold finished joint 15th (25th overall) and Rhyl joint 22nd (32nd oveall)
Please find below links to the spreadsheet showing all the scores (out of 15) achieved by WPF club members in the recent PAGB Inter-Federation Competition. The WPF entries were chosen and collated by our President, Jenny Hibbert – thanks Jenny!
Gwynfa Camera Club has won the 2022 Barrian Cup by one point from Afan Need and Tenby who finished joint second. Hay & Thornbury were joint third on 90 points.
The passing, last month, of Jim Yendle, one of the most esteemed members of Rhiwbina Camera Club in north Cardiff, came as a shock to all RCC members. Although he had been unwell for some time, no-one had been prepared for the sad news of his passing. Jim had been a prominent member of RCC for more than 60 years, during many of which he served on the club committee, mostly as Secretary, but also as Treasurer, Programme Secretary and Competitions Secretary. In addition to his friends within the camera club, over the years Jim made many acquaintances within the wider photographic community in south Wales and in the Welsh Photographic Federation. In appreciation of his outstanding loyalty and service to Rhiwbina Camera Club, he was presented with a commemorative plate during the 2017/18 season. In further recognition of his exceptional contribution to the club for over six decades, he was granted Life Membership two years ago.
