Aberystwyth Camera club are pleased to announce that Martin Hursthouse has been made a “Life Member” in recognition of the dedication and various roles he has undertaken which include Treasurer, Secretary, and External Competition secretary.
We are very sad to report the passing of Vince Penticost who passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of July 10th. He will be sadly missed.
Vince was a well-respected club member who was well known across the camera clubs of South Wales as a presenter and judge.
He served as chairman of Western Valley Camera Club for a total of 23 years (1997-99, 2002-2007, 2009-2021 and 2024).
He also served on the WPF Committee and was President between 2015 and 2017 and as Past President until 2019.
He was particularly known for his sense of fun and good humour. The author of this post particularly remembers him coming to Gwynfa to judge a ‘match-a-slide’ competition dressed in his full referee kit, complete with yellow and red cards.
We’ll let you have the funeral arrangements when we know them.

Here are the Results from the Interfed Competition for The Welsh Federation.
We’ve received this from Barry Camera Club….
Thank  you so much for all your entries into the Barrian Cup this year. The feedback I have received has shown it to be another very successful year, which is due to your involvement and support of this event. As a Club we treasure that support and the opportunity to meet with old and new friends, thank you.
Watch out for those tired old ‘substitution’ email scams, they are doing the rounds again.
What happens is that you get an email from someone pretending to be an officer of your club or your Federation and they are asking you for some kind of help, financial of course. The latest one targetted our Federation President.
Note, emails are not being hacked. They just pretend to be someone else by covering up the actual send email. The latest emails came from mailing79joo@gmail.com but a name familiar to you is being used to disguise that bit.
Report all such emails by forwarding them to:Â report@phishing.gov.uk
Here are the results of the 2024 Welsh Salon of Photography.

Many of you will have heard the incredibly sad news of the passing of Alyn Wallace.
Alyn, originally from Pontypridd spoke to many PF clubs and his talks were a treat. Always memorable and awe inspiring. Such dedication to a craft is rare. We cannot believe he has gone at such a young age. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
His family has released the following statement:
