The entry deadline is 13th October, 2019 but we would appreciate receiving your entries sooner if possible.

Pixels 2018, the 14th running of the competition, took place at Talbot Green Community Centre on Saturday 3rd November and was a very well attended and enjoyable competition.
Here are the results from the 2018 Celtic Challenge.
The Barrian Cup was won by The Inn Focus Group (95 points) with Tenby second (92 points) and Gwynfa third (88 points).
Angela De Roy Jones of Gwent won the Dave Cowdrey Trophy for Best Landscape/Seascape with Deganwy Winter Walk and Coltrane Koh won the inaugural Mike Lewis Trophy for the Best Print in Competition with Settle Down.
The award winning photos can be seen below together with judge John Tilsley presenting Tom Dee from Inn Focus with the Barrian Cup and Jay, Mike’s daughter, presenting the Mike Lewis Trophy which was accepted on Angela’s behalf by Tom as no one from Gwent Photographic Society was present.

This years 5 to 8 Competition for digital PhotoHarmony AV sequences was held on the 19th March and despite the snowy conditions the Judge Howard Bagshaw ARPS MPAGB, safely made it to Bridgend. This years competition attracted it’s largest ever entry with sequences from a number of countries.
After a short introduction the evening continued with the showing of sequences. A brief critique of the sequence then follows. At the end of an entertaining evening Howard had the unenviable task of picking the top sequences, his choice was:

Hi Folks,
It has been decided to move the Ace of Prints Competition from Briton Ferry to Talbot Green Community Centre. As this venue has a market there on Saturdays it is also necessary to change the date to Sunday 7th July 2019 with the closing date remaining at 16th June 2019.
I would be grateful if those Clubs considering entering could contact me to let me know their intentions by April – Thanks!
Because there are a few new Clubs and there have been changes of Secretaries in 2019 I have decided to circulate the Rules etc., again.

I do believe that any of our Clubs who have 5 print workers can compete successfully in this competition – and it will expose their members work to a wider audience, the entry must consist of Colour and Monochrome prints with no more than 3 Nature prints. So although the rules say a Club is allowed “Unlimited†numbers of prints this is just to remove any artificial limits. A Club needs 12 prints in round one and if you go through to the second or Plate round you would only need 3 more prints – making a total of 15 prints. Obviously any prints that scored lowly in the first round a Club may want to replace – say 5 more prints making 20 prints a comfortable quantity to compete with.
Now obviously a Club could come along with 40+ prints as it may decide to see what the Judges’ peccadillos or dislikes are in the First Round so that they can choose effectively for the final. I have to say I think that would be overkill as print quality is what counts.
So to summarise:– 5 print workers with 4 prints each would enable a Club to partake and enjoy the Competition. For a small £10 entry fee you could enjoy a feast of Welsh Photography and measure yourself against your Federation Clubs. I’ve even attached the First Round Entry Form so that you can start listing the great work you see in your Club right now!
Remember the Olympics motto: Taking part is what it’s all about – not just winning!

The 2018 WPF Memorial Trophy for Colour Prints.

Revised result – Tenby and District Camera Club have informed the Executive that one of the images they entered in the Memorial Trophy had been accepted in last year’s Welsh Salon and was therefore not eligible for the Memorial Trophy. Tenby won the competition and notified us of this error a few days later stating they wished to withdraw the image from the Competition. Consequently, Inn Focus, originally second, are now the winners of the WPF Memorial Trophy 2018 and all other clubs move up one place.
The WPF Executive thank Tenby and District Camera Club for bringing this genuine error to our attention. The Executive will revise the rules for future competitions to try to ensure that this mistake doesn’t occur again.
