2023 Ace of Clubs Results

Eleven Clubs entered the 2023 Ace of Clubs although one of them (Rhiwbina) was not in attendance and so couldn’t take part in round 2 and the final.

With so few clubs entering, all clubs progressed to the final. Therefore, rounds one and two became an excercise in assessing the judge’s preferences ready for the decisive final round.

Congratulations go to Gwynfa and Bridgend who finished first and second in the final and have been invited to represent the WPF at the PAGB Inter Club PDI Championship in Warwick later this year.

I thought it was a great day of photography and I thought our Judges performed well for which we have much appreciation – given the misbehaviour of our scoring system – we’ll have to do better next time!

The 3 Judges; Colin Harrison FRPS MPAGB FBPE EFIAP/d3;  Ralph Snook ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/b and Peter Young LRPS CPAGB APAGB AFIAP chose a number of images that they thought worthy of mention: –

They jointly chose – “Safely over the bar” by Brian Merry of Rhondda CC as the best image overall.

Ralph Snook chose – “Banded Demoiselle Pair” by Alec Stewart of Gwynfa as his personal favourite.

Peter Young chose – “Alone on the Moor” by Jan Sullivan of Tenby as his personal favourite.

Colin Harrison chose – “Graveyard Run” by David Hopes of Bridgend as his personal favourite.

You can see them below….

Finally we must congratulate IOS and Gwynfa for coming first and second and being prepared to represent the WPF at the PAGB PDI Competition held in Warwick this July – that’s worth a day of your time going along to see the best of British PDI work!
