Congratulations to Tenby who were joint winners of the plate competition at the National Print Championships at Connah’s Quay. This competition is run in a similar way to our own Ace of Clubs event, but for prints.
This year both Tenby & Gwynfa represented the WPF at this event as they were the two clubs who topped the Gwyn Morgan Trophy for the best club panel of six prints at this year`s Welsh Salon.
The overall Championship was jointly won by Edinburgh and Arden who both presented wonderful prints of excellent quality. Wigan 10, who seemingly not happy with the result, were in third place.
In the first round Tenby scored 140 points which was a very good score but not enought to see them into the final nine. However, they went into the plate competition. Jill Baxter and her team chose wisely and they were declared joint winners with Stafford. Each won a Silver Medal and shared the Plate.
This is the second major success following on from Gwynfa who achieved joint first in the plate competition at the National DPI Championships at Warwick back in July. Strangely Gwynfa weren’t awarded a ‘share’ or a silver medal and lost on a tie break.
