Barry Camera Club Host Yet Another Very Successful Barrian Cup.
On Saturday 10 June, Barry Camera Club hosted its 25th Barrian Cup: a prestigious annual event where camera clubs and photographic societies from all over Wales and the West of England come to Barry to compete for this annual competition of printed photographic images.
Each club enters 5 printed images and they are judged individually and awarded a score out of 20 possible marks. There are three trophies to be won:
The Barrian Cup, awarded to the club with the best aggregate score in the competition, was won by Monmouth PC.
The Dave Cowdrey Cup, awarded for the best Landscape/Seascape print, was won by ‘The Glen’ by Roger Daniel of Bridgend & District CC
The Mike Lewis Cup, awarded for the best overall print was won by ‘Quiet’ by Pat Hopkins of Monmouth PC.
All the scores can be seen here.
An audience of around 60 guests arrived for the event, representing 16 Clubs. Councillor Janice Charles officiated and the images were judged by Dennis Russ LRPS AWPF AFIAP CPAGB BPE1*
It was a very successful event despite the ravages of Covid which have decimated some clubs, which were unable to enter this year. Despite this, the event was well attended and proved as popular as ever. Many of the guests expressed their satisfaction with the event and stated how much they look forward to, not only the event which they thoroughly enjoy but spending some pleasurable time in and around Barry.
A big thank you to all Barry Camera Club members for their efforts in making the day such a big success.
